Do you feel my aura?

I had a friend who claimed she could see auras.

After staring at me, her head at a tilt, she announced, “Green.”

My aura was green.  That was good to know even though I had no idea what she was talking about.  When I Googled “green aura,” the possible interpretations were infinite.

In a pedestrian sense, auras are the ambiences or atmospheres that surround certain people, environments or groups: fear, power, levity, creativity, negativity, love.  You don’t see these auras, but empathic people can sense them.

The paranormal aura is an energy field, a glow that surrounds the body, and it is an extension of life force.  The colors of that aura, the meanings of which are usually aligned with the chakra system, reveal the essence of a human being at that moment.

Although seeing an aura is considered a psychic ability that anyone can develop, I hadn’t had too much luck.

I stopped over to see Meri Byers, an intuitive and reader of the Tarot, who recently added the Biopulsar Reflexograph to her menu of services.

I placed my hand on the sensor panel of gold-plated pegs that include 143 “biomedical” sensors that scan through 49 “reflex zones.”  According to the company’s website, the sensors measure physical states such as muscle tone, skin temperature and perspiration, brainwave activity and other physical conditions. These readings offer a physical, mental, emotional and spiritual snapshot.

A separate reading calculated the energy of each of my chakras.  According to Byers, normal chakra energy range is between 45% and 68%.  Nothing was too out of balance for me except for a little low energy in the heart chakra, the energy center that balances the realm of spirit with the world of matter.

As the sensors read my hand, clouds of many colors moved across a digitized body map on the screen.

It was so science-y for something that isn’t science.

Meri Byers has been offering intuitive consultations and Tarot readings for 30 years.  Locally, she works with the Center for Eternal Light, North Fort Myers, and The Way of Positive Change, Cape Coral. She added the Biopulsar Reflexograph to her readings for one reason:  The computer makes skeptical people feel better.

She explained the sensors, the wires and computer screen demystify the mystical.

Byers interpreted the color patterns and their placement on my reading, and she talked about the areas that appeared stagnant and, lately, my persistent refusal to trust my instincts.

“You are always overthinking,” she said.  “Give your intuition a little more credit.”

The Biopulsar Reflexograph had something there. The irony, to me, was obvious.

When I got home, I stood before the bathroom mirror and positioned the white door behind me.  I stared at my third-eye center until I began to blur. I tried to sense colors in my peripheral vision but still no luck.  I closed my eyes for a break, and my silhouette flashed behind my eyelids for instant, and then it vanished.

It was green, the color of the heart chakra.
